This is an advanced class, some forging experience is required.

In this one person, four day session I will work with you to create some beautiful mosaic damascus! You will have a choice to work on either a completed Japanese style knife, or two billets to take home and finish yourself.

Here are some of the things we will cover in this class:

• Pattern development and formulating a recipe to achieve your pattern.

• Steel selection and billet preparation.

• Forging techniques specific to mosaic damascus.

• Heat treating, grinding, and blade geometry for kitchen cutlery.

• Hand finishing and etching techniques to bring out the best in your mosaic damascus.

• Construction and installation of a Japanese style wa handle.

In making mosaic damascus there are a lot of little techniques that make a big difference and if you’re interested in learning how to incorporate this process into your own work then this class is for you!

When you purchase this class we can work together to select a date that will work for both of us, the four days can be scheduled any day of the week and we can do them back to back or separate them.
